Summer 2015 My InternshipAs an Advent GX team member, I was asked to be involved in a number of different aspects of Advent GX projects. My tasks included: writing, marketing, social media, program development, gallery and event staffing, facility and operations management. Additionally, I focused a large amount of time to the program development and management of this summer's SEAD Academy under the direction of the SEAD Academy Director, Ruthie Strout.
Because Advent GX nurtures and relies on their team's entrepreneurial spirit. They ask for their peers to be: - Self driven - Self learners - Self managed As a startup company, Advent GX vest's in our team members a great deal of flexibility, responsibility and ownership. Dealing with ambiguity is certainly a part of every day's work and gives way to great opportunities. Perks of Being an Intern
Being apart of the Advent GX team is more than just another job, you become part of the family. As an intern you will be introduced to the many great things happening in Historic Downtown Bryan. Some cool perks of being an intern is becoming apart of the vibrant downtown life, where you will get into shows at the Grand Stafford for free, get to be behind the scenes in the events, become involved in company decisions and occasionally get invited to the boss's house for "Wine Wednesday".

Personal Achievements
During my time at Advent GX I have discovered how broad the term "Community Development" is. The company introduced me to all the different options available to me once I graduate. Getting involved with your neighbors can be done in so many different ways, if it is done by creating a farmers market, putting on a neighborhood garage sale or just going to town meetings and voicing your opinion, it is all important. I have learned to develop a summer camp from scratch, put on a great music show, to host a classy evening of art and wine, and to network with business professionals.
